Col. Andrew J. Rohrer is the Armed Forces Medical Examiner and Director, Armed Forces Medical Examiner System, Dover Air Force Base, Delaware. He is responsible for executing Title 10, United States Code, Section 1471 statutory authority for Forensic Pathology Investigations under federal jurisdiction and is the scientific authority for the identification of remains of Department of Defense-affiliated personnel. He directs the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System with oversight of the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory, the Armed Forces Repository of Specimen Samples of the Identification of Remains, DOD Mortality Registry, Central Forensic Toxicology Laboratory for DOD Drug Testing Program, and Division of Forensic Pathology Investigations.

Prior to his current position, he was Regional Medical Examiner, AFMES, Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas with additional duties as the AFMES-Joint Trauma System liaison, AFMES-Joint Trauma Analysis and Prevention of Injuries in Combat liaison, and AFMES-NASA liaison for Human Spaceflight Contingency Operations.

Rohrer is an Assistant Professor of Pathology with the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences and has numerous publications with a special interest in military mortality data and warfighter survivability.
