Healthcare Operations
The Healthcare Operations Directorate standardizes care for beneficiaries across the DHA enterprise. We improve healthcare delivery and outcomes through health IT systems, standardized patient administration activities, and dental activities. We also manage the TRICARE pharmacy benefit and pharmacy operations.
Medical Affairs
The office of Medical Affairs strives to make exceptional healthcare outcomes routine by focusing on the delivery of care and those who provide it. We actively recruit, process, and bring onboard qualified clinicians; develop clinical policies and compliance measures; and coordinate the DHA’s high reliability program for clinical care. To ensure providers are best prepared to serve our beneficiaries’ unique needs, we operate academic programs across DOD graduate medical education curriculums and help recruit civilian physicians at military hospitals and clinics.
DHA Public Health
DHA Public Health oversees the execution of public health activities across the DOD enterprise to support all service members, families, civilians, and working animals. We focus primarily on environmental health, epidemiology, occupational health, emergency management, and laboratory and toxicology services.
Armed Forces Medical Examiner System
The Armed Forces Medical Examiner System provides medicolegal services and emerging technologies to the DOD. These tools are essential for the readiness, sustainability, and survivability of our service members. We provide comprehensive forensic investigative services to DOD and the entire U.S. federal government. Services include forensic pathology, DNA identifications, forensic toxicology, and medical mortality surveillance.
TRICARE Health Plan
DHA operates and administers the TRICARE health plan, the largest contributor to the DHA mission of improving health and building readiness. This directorate is responsible for policy and contract development, plan execution, and management of private-sector health and dental care services for the TRICARE program.
