Col. Sherri Daye is the Director of Veterinary Pathology at the Joint Pathology Center in Silver Spring, Maryland, and serves as the Veterinary Pathology Consultant to the U.S. Army Surgeon General. Daye graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1993, and she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. She became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in 2015 after completing the Department of Defense Veterinary Pathology Residency. She completed a Postgraduate Diploma in One Health with the University of Edinburgh in 2022.

Prior to her current position, Daye served as the inaugural Director of the One Health Branch at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, as well as the Associate Director of the WRAIR Center for Infectious Diseases Research, and the Associate Director of the WRAIR Veterinary Services Pathology Department, where she provided leadership and subject matter expertise in support of diagnostic, therapeutic, and vaccine countermeasures to protect Service Members from infectious disease threats.

Her previous assignments include the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, where she served as a Biodefense Research Pathologist in support of high-consequence pathogen medical countermeasure research and development from 2014-2017 and as the Deputy Chief of the Pathology Division from 2017-2019. She also served with the 1st Area Medical Laboratory, a highly-specialized unit designed to deploy worldwide to conduct field CBRNE detection, confirmation, and medical surveillance. From 2011-2014, she participated in the Department of Defense Veterinary Pathology Residency at the Joint Pathology Center, where she was selected to serve as the Wednesday Slide Conference Coordinator for weekly international and multi-institutional veterinary pathology slide conferences. Prior to joining the DODVPR, Daye served as the Branch Chief for the Southern Europe District Veterinary Command's United Kingdom Branch Veterinary Services,  2008-2011, and as the Officer in Charge at the Gulf Coast District Veterinary Command's Tyndall Air Force Base Veterinary Treatment Facility from 2006-2008.

Daye recently served on the Health Security Threats One Health Research Response Animal Sector Working Group and the Canine Combat Casualty Care Committee. She is currently a member of the Military Infectious Diseases Research Program's Emerging Infectious Diseases Steering Committee, the DHA-VHA Data Collaboratory, and the Veterinary Corps Chief’s Wellbeing Working Group. Daye’s research interests include pursuing innovative, collaborative, and multidisciplinary "One Health" projects to protect service members from environmental and infectious disease threats and to enhance global health security.

Her military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and Armed Forces Service Medal.
