Col. David C. Walmsley is the Commandant, Medical Education and Training Campus, Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas. As Commandant he has the responsibility of providing the Defense Health Agency and the service branches with enlisted medical specialty training for 16,500 students annually at Fort Sam Houston. Walmsley leads 320 joint military and DHA civilian staff and coordinates the support of an additional 1,000-plus Army, Navy and Air Force staff who are responsible for managing 49 courses of instruction. He oversees the national accreditation and certification of 13 courses.

Walmsley entered the Air Force in June 1997, and completed Commissioned Officer Training in September 1997. He has served in multiple roles and locations, including Deputy Commander of the 959th Medical Group while dual hatted as the Chief of Quality Services at Brooke Army Medical Center, the Department of Defense’s largest military hospital and only Level I Trauma Center. He also commanded the 20th Medical Support Squadron and 2d Medical Operations Squadron. He has also worked on the Market Director’s staff for the San Antonio Military Health System and National Capital Region Medical Directorate. Prior to his current position, Walmsley served as the Commander, 59th Training Group, at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
