Dr. Aaron Auerbach currently serves as the Director of Education, Research, and Repository at the Joint Pathology Center, where he oversees all educational initiatives, research coordination, and the management of the tissue repository.

As director of the JPC Tissue Repository, Auerbach facilitates the modernization of the repository, ‘America’s Pathology Collection.’ Through this repository, he spearheads the creation of world-class collections such as the soft tissue collection, JPC Spleen Library, and the JPC Encyclopedia of Hematopoietic Disease, designed to serve as national resources for research and education. Through the digitization of the pathology repository, over 4 million slides have been scanned to date, which are being used for medical research, including applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning in tissue analysis. Additionally, Auerbach facilitates research collaborations with many external researchers who utilize the JPC Tissue Repository in their studies.

In his role at JPC Education, Auerbach was the inaugural Director of Medical Education and played a pivotal role in shaping the center’s academic programs. He introduced innovative changes to the training curriculum for residents, focusing on expanding responsibilities, enhancing research opportunities, and implementing a digital scanning initiative. He also serves as the site coordinator for residents and is responsible for the center’s dynamic social media presence.

His publication efforts in hematopathology have led to many manuscripts and textbooks with the latest being 2024’s “Diagnostic Pathology: Molecular Oncology (3rd Edition),” and two more textbooks planned for 2025. He is also in pathology societies and currently sits on the Steering Committee for the House of Delegates for the College of American Pathologists, as well as on its Wellness Action Group and Biorepository Accreditation Committee.
