Mr. Eric Stringer is the Deputy Director and Chief of Staff for Defense Health Network Continental, the Defense Health Agency’s second-largest network, located at the DHA headquarters in Falls Church, Virginia. In this role, Stringer manages and administers the DHN Continental office staff on behalf of the DHN Continental director. He oversees executive strategy, management, clinical operations, and business operations for 26 Army, Air Force, and Space Force military hospitals and clinics across the United States. He also manages a budget of more than $1 billion, while overseeing health care for over 410,000 beneficiaries.

Before his current position, Stringer served as the DHA’s deputy division chief for the Strategy Management Division, J-5, in Falls Church. In that role, he assisted in the development of DHA’s Strategic Plan and supervised its implementation, translating strategy into actionable business operations at more than 450 military medical and dental clinics and hospitals globally, the DHA headquarters, and direct reporting organizations for the Department of Defense.

He also supported the DHA Performance Management process, managing it through DHA Governance to monitor and achieve breakthrough performance. Before that, Stringer was the chief of staff for the DHA’s Small Market and Stand-Alone Military Medical Treatment Facility Organization in San Antonio, Texas. There, he provided strategic oversight for executive management, clinical operations, and business operations, including the execution of an annual budget exceeding $2 billion across 17 small markets and 41 stand-alone military medical treatment facilities. These facilities, which included more than 240 medical and dental treatment facilities across the United States and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, accounted for more than one-quarter of health care encounters within the Military Health System.

Under his guidance, the small markets and stand-alone military medical treatment facilities managed by Stringer provided care to over 1 million beneficiaries with more than 25,000 personnel. He helped grow and enhance a high-reliability health care network that delivered outstanding clinical outcomes, excellent service, and training. He also established strong, collegial partnerships across the federal footprint, the private sector, and military medical treatment facilities.

Stringer has more than 24 years of active military service and over 35 years of total military service. He currently serves as a traditional guardsman in the Missouri Air National Guard, where he is the 131st Medical Group commander.
