U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Douglas J. Robb
U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. (Dr.) Douglas Robb was nominated to serve as DHA’s first director following 20 years practicing aerospace medicine in a range of positions, including as the chief flight surgeon of the U.S. Air Forces in Europe, command surgeon of the U.S. Central Command, command surgeon of the Air Mobility Command, and joint staff surgeon.
U.S. Navy Vice Adm. Raquel Bono
On Nov. 2, 2015, U.S. Navy Vice Adm. (Dr.) Raquel Bono was named DHA's second director. Prior to taking the helm, Bono, a board-certified trauma surgeon and former command surgeon of the U.S. Pacific Command, was the first female surgeon in the military to hold the rank of vice admiral.
U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Ronald J. Place
On Sept. 3, 2019, U.S. Army Lt. Gen. (Dr.) Ronald J. Place was named DHA’s third director. Place, board certified in both general surgery and colorectal surgery, is the author of more than 40 peer reviewed articles and book chapters, and a clinical professor of surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
