A native of Philadelphia, U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Timothy E. Brennan serves as the Chief of Staff and Military Deputy to the Director of the Defense Health Agency in Falls Church, Virginia. In his role, he integrates joint operations, combat support agencies, clinical services, and business support for combatant commands across nine global healthcare networks, which include 728 military medical and dental treatment facilities. As a career line officer, Brennan directly addresses the immediate and urgent medical needs of the Total Force. His position is vital for managing a $61 billion unified medical budget that enables 127,000 civilian and military personnel to maintain a medically ready force, supporting 9.2 million servicemembers, their families, and retirees.
Brennan holds a bachelor's degree in history from Temple University, a master's degree in strategic studies from the US Army War College, and a master's degree in public administration from Pennsylvania State University. His military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Civil Affairs Qualification Course, the Command and General Staff College, and the Army War College.
Throughout his career, Brennan has held various General Officer positions, including Deputy Commanding General of First Army at Rock Island Arsenal in Illinois; Deputy Director of Operations and Cyber at U.S. Africa Command in Stuttgart, Germany; Commander of the 353rd Civil Affairs Command at Fort Wadsworth in Staten Island, New York; and Deputy Commanding General for Support at the 99th Readiness Division at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey.
