This lecture by Donald E. Hall, Ph.D., explores the fascinating history of the National Park Seminary at Forest Glen—from its origins as a girl's finishing school to its transformation into part of Walter Reed Army Hospital, used for recovering care after World War II and the Korean War.
The National Park Seminary was built in 1887 with unique architecture featuring a variety of styles, including a Japanese pagoda, Italian villa, and English castle, among others. Hall will describe how the U.S. Army maintained the seminary space for convalescent care and rehabilitation for soldiers following World War II and the Korean War.
The lecture will be presented both in person at the National Museum of Health and Medicine, 2500 Linden Lane, Silver Spring, MD 20910, and live on Facebook @MedicalMuseum.
This event is free; no RSVP required.
